Membership in the Fourth Degree

Any Third Degree member in good standing, one year after the anniversary of his First Degree, is eligible for membership in the Fourth Degree. The primary purpose of the Fourth Degree is to foster the spirit of patriotism by promoting responsible citizenship and a love of and loyalty to the Knights' respective countries through active membership in local Fourth Degree groups (called "assemblies"). Certain members of the Fourth Degree serve as honor guards at civic and religious functions, an activity that has brought worldwide recognition to the Knights of Columbus.

About Our Council

Cowlitz Council was founded in 1935 through the efforts of the council's 1st Grand Knight Jack Donahue. It is named after Cowlitz County because of the large area it covered that included four churches - St. Rose, Longview; Immaculate Heart of Mary, Kelso; St. Mary, Castle Rock, and St. Catherine, Cathlamet.

In 2002, a new council was formed at Immaculate Heart of Mary and St. Mary. The Cowlitz Council continues to proudly serve St. Rose Parish and St. Catherine:  providing funds for various causes, actively participating in parish activities, and supporting service projects.

Our biggest event at St. Rose is the annual crab feed.  We also hold and participate in many functions throughout the year.
